Hawkers fall prey to brazen break-ins – (Home Section Pg 1)

Q1a) Why is it easy for burglars to break into stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area?
Q1b) What is the Geylang East Central Merchants’ Association going to do about the break-ins?

Q2) What do you think should be done to tighten the security of the markets? What do you think of the burglars who brazenly break into stalls?

Answers:
Q1a) The stalls units are open and are located at the top which makes the burglars easily to break-ins through the open ceilings or the metal bars along the walls.
Q1b) The Geylang East Central Merchants’ Association discussed with NEA and town councils. They look into improving the security and will modify the stall layouts and design.

Q2) I think they should put more security systems and alarm alerts. I think the burglars who brazenly break into stalls are selfish who thinks about themselves. The owner of those stalls work hard to gain money but the burglars simply steal them and the owner hard works are for nothing. I think the burglars should think first before stealing because they only think about themselves and not others.
